ZBS Immersives

The ZBS Immersives is an in-depth, hybrid training spanning several areas of professional and artistic concentration throughout the year.  Taught by the incomparable ZBS Faculty, who combine their extensive professional experience in film and television, with their experience at many of the great conservatories from around the world: Julliard, NYU, Suny Purchase, The Old Globe, Trinity Rep, American Conservatory Theater, The Actors Studio and so on.

The program weaves personal development, with artistic craft and industry needs resulting in actors who know themselves and the market and can consistently access what makes them grounded, indispensable, and creatively resilient.

The program meets 2-3 days/week, the classes are Hybrid (Online + In-person) and is structured with various entry points, allowing students to commit to 16 weeks or yearly increments. As the Immersive is primarily designed for working actors, specific accommodations are made to allow actors to work while in the program and pause their membership for larger bookings.

ZBS Intensives

The ZBS Intensives is an in-person, all-day, weeklong program that is meant to complement the ZBS Immersive, as well as function as an independent course of study.  This allows actors in the Immersive to work in person with the actors they have been training with throughout the year, as well as opening the door to fresh perspectives from new actors, not in the Immersive, seeking a more intensive course of study.  The Intensives also feature a panel of industry experts (showrunners, directors, casting directors, executives, and community leaders) that are navigating and setting the evolving trends of Hollywood on a daily basis.

SERIES REGULAR & Acting For The Whole Self (AFTWS)

IMMERSIVE & Intensive

SERIES REGULAR: The Immersive will be a deep dive into auditioning for Series Regular roles across genre and network, attuning actors to the current landscape of TV, as well as the subtleties of genre, tone, and style. The Immersive includes an in-depth study of the six major television genres: Single-Cam, Multi-Cam, Procedural Drama, Serial Drama, Sci-Fi, and Hybrid (a combination of genres). Actors will work on genre-based text analysis and self-tape and practice various live callback and testing scenarios as they expand their skills, hone their craft, and empower their confidence.

AFTWS: An in-depth investigation into the Core Experiences starts the course by getting you connected to your inner life and revealing any blocks you might have. Then the Five Means of Expression frees up your instrument, expanding your facility with your physicality, voice, imagination, relationship, and language. Then we approach CIPERC, the Six Steps to Approaching the Role, which will give you confidence in being self-directed in your work, and in applying a flexible process to any acting situation. The course ends with our Whole Self Improv Process which will have you working at the edge of yourself, personally and artistically, as you learn to re-approach scripted work from the inside out, as well as develop a process for creating your own work. These techniques are all signature to ZBS and offered nowhere else in the world. They have been consistently invaluable in helping our actors find personal integrity, artistic freedom, and professional success. The AFTWS Immersive is the expanded/more in-depth version of the ZBS Acting For the Whole-Self Intensive, though they do cover different material so students are welcome (and encouraged) to attend both!

The ZBS Immersives course can be taken online or in-person and can be taken for the full 16 weeks, or in combination with immersives that come before or after. GUEST STAR

IMMERSIVE & Intensive

In the ZBS Guest Star Immersive, actors develop a heightened sensitivity to tone, style, and character function, as they take a deep dive into the guest star and recurring roles across genres and networks. Attention is paid to making bold, smart choices consistent with the world of the show, and the function of their role within a particular genre, ie what is the function of a guest star in a procedural drama vs a serial drama?  What about a single-cam vs. a multi-cam?  The Immersive includes an in-depth study of the six major television genres: Single-Cam, Multi-Cam, Procedural Drama, Serial Drama, Sci-Fi, and Hybrid (a combination of genres). Actors will work on genre-based text analysis and self-tape and practice various live callback scenarios as they expand their skills, hone their craft, and empower their confidence. Like all of the immersives, the Guest Star Immersive can be taken online or in-person and can be taken by itself for the full 16 weeks, or in combination with either of the immersives that come before or after. Entry points for the Guest Star Immersives happen every few weeks so please see the schedule below, and contact us via email for entry dates and availability.
